June 4
SPEAKER: Fr. Elpidophoros Lambriniadis
TOPIC: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew's visit to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow
This week on CRTL, we'll hear from V. Rev. Archimandrite Dr. Elpidophoros Lambriniadis, Chief Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Fr. Elpidophoros joined us last week by phone from Moscow, where Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church were meeting during His All Holiness's Official Visit to Russia. He talks with us about relations between the two Patriarchates and the upcoming Pan Orthodox Synod. Next, we turn our attention to the situation in Haiti as we hear from Mark Ohanian of IOCC. Mark is Senior Programs Coordinator based at IOCC's headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland and has been involved with the coordination of efforts in Haiti since February. He'll tell us more about conditions on the ground right now, what's being done by IOCC to assist the people of Haiti and what each of us can do to help. Finally, Fr. Chris hears from Fr Barnabas Jerome Euginst, priest of St. John the Baptist parish in Pétionville, a district in the capital of Port-au-Prince, under His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Mexico. Fr Barnabas talks about his journey to Orthodoxy and how the recent earthquake has affected both his parish and his personal faith.

TOPIC: Fr. Luke Veronis on his book Go Forth
On June 14th, we celebrate the Feastday of the prophet Elisha. Here to talk with us about this important Old Testament figure is Deacon Irenaios Anderson from Saint Herman Theological Seminary in Kodiak, Alaska. Plus, we'll hear from Fr. Luke Veronis, who has served as a missionary who's served for over 12 years in parts of Africa & Albania, and is currently the priest at St. Constantine & Helen in Webster, MA. Fr. Luke was also recently appointed Director for the newly inaugurated Missions Institute of Orthodox Christianity located at the Holy Cross School of Theology, where he is also an adjunct professor. He's back to tell us about his most recent book, entitled Go Forth: Stories of Mission and Resurrection in Albania.

TOPIC:  Dr. Byron Gaist on his book Creative Suffering & the Wounded Healer
Today on CRTL, we welcome children's author Despina Manatos to the program. She'll tell us about her first publication, entitled The Nameday Book. Also with us is Dr. Byron Gaist, an Orthodox psychotherapist based in Cyprus. He's here to tell us about his book Creative Suffering and the Wounded Healer, which looks at the interface between analytical psychology and Christian psychology.

Today, Fr. Chris is joined by Sylvia Leontaris, the creator of the popular blog OrthodoxMom.com. She'll tell us about why she started the blog, what readers can expect to find there and the role her faith plays in her motherhood. We'll also hear from Nicholas Reeves, who recently produced a concert entitled "Deliverance Through Devotion: The Triumph of Orthodox Music Over Oppression" that was performed at the St. Vartan Cathedral in New York City.
